[Invited Talk] From Independent Component Analysis, to Nonnegative Matrix Factorization and Sparse Signal Analysis
Shun-ichi Amari (RIKEN) EA2012-109
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Independent Component Analysis was proposed by Jutten and Herault around
1985 in France, and it became an active area of research in the world in
the end of the last century to the beginning of the new century. Ideas
of Nonnegative matrix factorization and sparse signal analysis have emerged from ICA and are now developing rapidly. The present talk begins with principal component analysis as a prehistory of ICA, reviews
the development of ICA in France, USA, Japan, Finland, etc. historically, and further shows how NMF and sparse analysis have emerged.
Keyword (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) independent component analysis / principal component analysis / nonnegative matrix factorization / sparse signal analysis / information geometry / / /
