Analysis of Touch Panel Operation Due to Motor Disabilities by Using Accelerometers
Yu Iwasaki, Tetsuya Hirotomi (Shimane Univ.)
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The children with cerebral palsy exhibit involuntary movement.
When they use a communication aid, they often produce many errors.
The proper seating can reduce the error though maximizing individual's ability to function.
The more accurate seating evaluation should be based on the quantitative assessment of the whole body.
In this research, accelerometers were attached to several body sites of children with cerebral palsy and healthy subjects while undertaking touch panel operation.
We analysed root mean square values (RMS) of each operation between the groups.
We developed visualisation of the level of involuntary movements.
Subjects, their parents and therapists suggested that our visualisation can be an evidence for seating assessments.
