Retinal Prosthesis of Frequency Modulation using Thin Film Photo Transistors

(in English) Although artificial retinas have been developed using LSI technology to date, there were issues from the viewpoints of biocompatible and wide viewing area. Therefore, we have developed a retinal prosthesis of frequency modulation using thin film photo transistors. It’s a digital system and have strong noise tolerance for application to consumer products. Moreover, it makes outcome to open up the possibility of an organ as embedded in the same way as biological retina.
We measured the basic characteristics of the device used in the circuit, the dependence on the illumination in one pixel, and the frequency distribution of artificial retina for light irradiation, which are the results expected as an artificial retina.
