In the report, we describe a system outline of new configurable IF digital receiver for atmospheric radars. Because the digital receiver comprises a general-purpose software-defined radio receiver designated as USRP2 and commercial personal computer, its purchase cost is only 400 thousand yen or less. Because program codes for signal processing is written by C++ language, the signal processing executed by the digital receiver is configurable (i.e., easy to be tested, implemented, and reconfigured). The receiver is capable of collecting IF received signal with a maximum sample rate of 10 MHz. By using the digital receiver, we succeeded in measuring fine-scale structure of atmospheric turbulence by using both oversampling and range imaging techniques. |
