Investigation on Improvement of I/O Characteristics of Left-Handed Ferrite Rectangular Waveguide

(in English) Improvement of I/O characteristics of low height left-handed ferrite rectangular waveguide such as using substrate integrated waveguide with microstrip I/O circuit is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Bloch impedance is derived by using approximation taking into account surface wave mode of ferrite. Length of ferrite and dielectric parts of the periodic structure are adjusted so that minimum value of Bloch impedance exists within pass band. Practical periodic structure consisting of finite number of unit cell, and I/O microstrip lines is investigated numerically and experimentally. It is shown that return loss is reduced by fine adjustment of length of waveguide of both ends of the periodic structure.
