Longitudinal Power Decay along a Weakly Coupled Multi-Core Fiber

(in English) An estimation method of inter-core crosstalk along a multi-core fiber by fitting bi-directional optical time domain reflectometry signature with theoretical longitudinal power decay is presented. The validity of estimated coupled-power coefficient is confirmed by simulation results derived from solving coupled-power equation. The results indicate that the difference of longitudinal power decay depending on the position of excited cores originates not from the different coupled-power coefficient but from the different effective crosstalk due to the number of adjacent cores.
