Design Method for GHz-Band Harmonics Treatment High Efficiency Power Amplifiers Using MHz-Band Active Harmonics Load-Pull System

(in English) For advanced wireless communication systems and wireless power transmission applications, many types of ampli ers have been reported, such as class-F, class-E, class-J, etc. All methods to improve efficiency result in shaping voltage and current waveforms in a transistor. The amplitudes and phases of harmonic components for both waveforms cannot be determined with harmonic impedance alone, since they depend on the speci c properties of the transistor. Thus, optimum load impedance exists for each transistor. Then, the optimum load impedance for a transistor without reactive parasitics is estimated in the MHz-band by using a simple active load-pull system. And, the optimum impedance outside the transistor in the GHz-band is estimated by considering the reactive parasitics. The procedure of this method is reported.
