Ferroelectric properties by in-plane polarization switching of perpendicularly oriented vinylidene fluoride thin films

(in English) In-plane polarization switching of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) oligomer [CF3(CH2CF2)nI](n=12) were observed for the first time. The films of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) oligomer with perpendicular orientation were formed onto comb-like Au electrodes with submicron gap distance by vacuum deposition at 313K. The polarization switching current were clearly observed for positive and negative polarization in consequence of current density vs electric field (J–E) properties. Moreover, coecive field (Ec) drastically decreased from 124 to 40MV/m, with increasing the measurement temperature from 295 to 370K. The heat resistance was considerably improved, as compared with conventional sandwiched device utilizing VDF oligomer films with parallel orientation.
