The properties of tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum (Alq_3)-based OLEDs without and with a 10-nm-thick 1,4,5,8,9,11-hexaazatriphenylene-hexacarbonitrile (HAT(CN)_6) buffer layer at the interface between indium-tin-oxide(ITO) and N,N’-bis(1-naphtyl)-N,N’-diphenyl-1,1’-biphenyl-4,4’-diamine ($\alpha$-NPD) layer were investigated. The device lifetime was taken from the initial luminance of 5000 cd/m^2 to 2500 cd/m2. For a device with HAT(CN)_6, lifetime value is improving, and an Alq3 based OLED with an estimated lifetime of over 180 hours (time to reach 50 % of initial intensity) at 5,000 cd/m^2 was obtained. From measurement of impedance spectroscopy analysis, the improved hole injection from ITO to $\alpha$-NPD results in the improved lifetime of an Alq_3 based OLED. |
