[Tutorial Lecture] OFDM Transmission in Multi-path Propagation Environment
Mitoshi Fujimoto (Univ. of Fukui) AP2012-97 RCS2012-164
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The OFDM Transmission has been introduced in many mobile communication systems because it has the features of high frequency utilization efficiency and robustness in multi-path environment. In the OFDM system, relation of orthogonal frequencies and guard interval (GI) are utilized to achieve high frequency utilization and high tolerance for multi-path, respectively.
In this paper, firstly, principle of the OFDM system such as concept of “Orthogonal frequencies” and scheme of GI as a countermeasure for multi-path waves is described. Then, problems to be solved of OFDM system in multi-path environment are explained. Finally, appropriate symbol length, subcarrier interval and limitation of OFDM system in mobile communication environment are described.
