Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We investigated the relationships among the Autism-spectrum Quotient (AQ), the attachment style (IWM: Internal Working Model scale), and the social skill ability (KiSS-18) from the general population (n = 353). The AQ is composed of 5 subscales: Social skills, Local details, Attention switching, Communication, and Imagination. The IWM is composed of 3 subscales: Secure, Anxious, and Avoidant styles. The KiSS-18 is a single-factor model. Firstly, we examined the relationship between the AQ score and the IWM score. The results showed that the High AQ group (AQ score ≧ 26) showed lower scores of Secure type and higher scores of Anxious and Avoidant types than the Low AQ group (AQ score ≦ 25). Next, we examined the relationship between the AQ score and the KiSS-18 score, showing that the score of KiSS-18 for the High AQ group was higher than that for the Low AQ group. Moreover, we analyzed the effects of AQ and IWM scores on the KiSS-18 score. The results showed that individuals with higher AQ score and lower Secure score, with higher AQ and Anxious scores, and with higher AQ and Avoidant scores showed lower score of the KiSS-18. These results suggest that the interaction between the autism spectrum and attachment style affects to the social skill ability.
