[Keynote Address] Research and development of resilient network technology for disaster relief and recovery

(in English) After experiencing the Great East Japan earthquake, Japanese government decided to start development of resilient information and communications technology which is useful for rebuilding really robust cities against disaster and for preparing predicted big earthquakes. This project includes R&D of optical networks, knowledge processing as well as mobile, wireless and satellite networks, and many private companies, universities and research organizations are participating. This talk introduces the overview of the project and related activities currently held in Japan, especially, focusing wireless and satellite communications area.
