A Study on Signal Detection in a Large Scale MIMO System -- Concept and BER Performance --

(in English) The easiest way to improve the throughput performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems is increasing the number of both transmit and receive antennas. In general, however, algorithms detecting spatially-multiplexed signals require the complexity proportional to the third power of the number of antenna elements in the least case. Thus, the implementation of an antenna array with an order of 100 elements becomes very difficult. In this paper, we evaluate the algorithm based on belief propagation with parallel interference cancellers. This algorithm is implementable in the order of the second power of the number of elements, and it has been shown that the array with the order of 100 elements reveals very good BER performance.
