Chaos MIMO-OFDM transmission scheme achieving physical-layer security in mobile channel environments

(in English) Recently, wireless systems utilizing third person’s relaying such as wireless multihop/relay networks, which can enhance the coverage and capacity, have been attracting attention. In those wireless systems ensuring security which means data cannot be decoded by other than the target destination terminal is important. Although ensuring security at the physical-layer is effective since it strengthens the security, many of conventional physical-layer security schemes deteriorate the error rate performance which is desired to be improved. Our previous study showed that a chaotic communication with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multiplexing transmission could achieve both the physical-layer security and the channel coding gain in tradeoff with the increase of decoding complexity. However, in that study the channel is assumed as flat fading and it cannot be applied into mobile communication environments. Therefore in this study, we propose a chaos-MIMO-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission scheme in which the multipath fading channel can be equalized in the frequency domain, and show the improved performance in terms of channel coding gain by maximum likelihood decoding compared to the unencrypted conventional MIMO-OFDM. Furthermore, the secrecy capacity to eavesdroppers for the shared initial chaos signals is evaluated.
