JAXA and NICT has developed three ARCs (Active Radar Calibrator) with NT Space and Sogo Denshi for external calibration of EarthCARE/CPR. It is estimated that ARCs have abilities for sensitivity calibration with 0.01dB accuracy and for Doppler velocity bias calibration with 0.049m/s accuracy if hardware specifications of the satellite, CPR and ARC achieve as designed. Although ARCs were designed for high performance of calibration, it became clear that the actual calibration accuracy should be evaluated, considering the actual specification of hardware from CloudSat/CPR measurement experiments. |
