Spike-based computation based on pulse-coupled phase oscillators toward its LSI implementation

(in English) In order to achieve brain-like intelligent information processing systems, we study time-domain analog computation approaches using continuous-time nonlinear dynamics with asynchronous spike pulses. We propose a spike-based computation approach based on pulse-coupled phase oscillators, which is known as a model of periodically firing neurons. We show CMOS LSI implementation results of a pulse-coupled phase oscillator system using three-state phase response functions, and apply the proposed approach to a coupled Markov Random Field (MRF) model performing coarse image region segmentation.
