The periodic structure of waveguides are used well to the delay line, the filter circuit, the leaky wave array antenna and so on. Usually, in the analysis of the periodic waveguide, the electromagnetic field is developed at the mode in the direction of the propagation, and the propagation constant is determined by the boundary condition. However, analyzing a problem by this method is limited only to simple shapes. On the other hand, when the con- ventional FDTD method is applied, the analysis region is drastically expanded. For the analysis, the region from 5 to 10 periods is required in the direction of the propagation. In this report, at the discretion in the direction of the propagation, the calculation is possible exclusively in 1 period using this technique. The methodology is based on the Floquet’s principle. The lossless waveguide is used for an analysis on the sample. Under the assumption of the prop- agation constant, field equations are discretized in time and space. Then the transient fields are calculated according to the FDTD scheme. After the Fourier transformation of the field, field frequencies are determined correspond to the propagation constant. The k-β diagram are obtained by the calculation of the propagation characteristic for the corrugated waveguide loaded thick irises. |
