Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, an evaluation method of silica glasses by the ultrasonic microspectroscopy technology was discussed. Six kinds of synthetic silica glasses were prepared. The glasses were heat-treated at different annealing temperatures to obtain specimens with different fictive temperatures. Longitudinal velocities, leaky surface wave acoustic wave velocities, and densities were measured for the specimens. The fictive temperature, OH concentration, and Cl concentration dependences of acoustic properties were obtained. As the results, the acoustic properties had high sensitivity to the fictive temperatures. In contrast, those were slightly affected by the concentrations of OH and Cl. Longitudinal velocity measurements are extremely useful for evaluation of fictive temperature distributions of silica glasses.
