Effects of Power Saving by Dynamic Partial Reconfiguration in Video Shape Detection Processing

(in English) Some of recent FPGAs have the functionality of dynamic partial reconfiguration. By using this functionality, it is expected that large circuit systems are reconfigured according to usage and operating environments, reducing the hardware amount as well as power consumption. In this paper, we investigate how much power saving can be obtained by applying dynamic partial reconfiguration, focusing on realtime shape detection processing in video images, which tends to require large circuit size. Our experimental results show 1-2% of measured power reduction, by comparing two configurations with and without dynamic partial reconfiguration.
