Sound synthesis applications have being introduced to mobile computing
in these years and they attract many users from the viewpoint of
usability. For further development, there are two improvable points;
the flexibility of timbre creation and high-speed computation within
real time. First of all, these applications synthesises timbres which
are generated by a basic timbre. They prefer new timbres without
basic sounds to the current timbres but any approaches do not achieve
the requirement in real system. In addition, it makes the
computational effort large, which may not allow real-time computing in
mobile devices. Thus, this paper proposes an approach for generating
new timbres by the use of an FPGA. The system and the experimental
results are also shown and discussed. |
