Local SAR Estimation of Human Model Implanted with Medical Metal Plates in Head Exposed to UHF Electromagnetic Fields

(in English) The RF exposure guidelines do recognize that an increased local SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) due to metallic implants is possible, depending upon the size and shape of the implant and the position. In this study, the effect of medical metal plates in the head region is examined. An anatomical Japanese male adult and a simplified multi-layer flat model are used which the plates are implanted in mandibular zone. The local SAR dependencies due to the size variation of the metal plates were presented. In addition, a half-wave dipole antenna was used as an exposure source and the SAR in the near field was studied. The results indicated that some of the metal plates, under 2 GHz far-field and near-field exposure conditions, may cause a 37% increment of 10g averaged SAR.
