| (in English) | Our Two-Path Limited Speculation system PALS speculatively executes one of the top two paths of high frequency in loops. In this paper, we focus on the loop unrolling method to solve the problem of performance degradation caused by thread control overheads in PALS. We develop a calculation method of an appropriate unrolling factor and clarify the performance effect of the method by simulation. The method estimates the cycle of speculative execution in the range of the unrolling factor that can be expected to improve performance in ideal condition and determine a unrolling factor by selecting the best result. We also show that the method can achieve up to 1.75 times speed-up. | |
