Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Optical single sideband (SSB) modulation can save the transmission bandwidth. In order to enhance the modulation depth and to mitigate self-phase modulation effect in fiber transmission, the techniques of signal peak suppression have been required for SSB modulation. In this paper, optical SSB modulation using high-pass Hilbert transformers was proposed for the above purposes. We confirmed the peak level mitigation by numerical simulation. The scheme is also effective against the higher order harmonics caused by the non-linearity of MZI. For fiber transmission, signal waveform degradation resulted from SPM effect is mitigated by using high-pass Hilbert transformers.
