[Tutorial Lecture] Summary of Mobile Radio Propagation in Urban Macro Environments
Tetsuro Imai, Koshiro Kitao (NTT DOCOMO) AP2012-55
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, in order to improve the communication quality and achieve higher transmission rates in mobile communication system, many transmission techniques are employed. So, various characteristics of radio propagation are needed in the system design. In this paper, we summarize the mobile propagation characteristics in urban micro-cell environments, based on the measurement data. The examined subjects of radio propagation are reception level variations ( which are characterized by small-scale fading, large-scale fading and path loss) and multipath characteristics ( which are characterized by propagation delay, direction of arrival (and departure) and polarization).
