A study on an impedance measurement method for a wide and flat metal sheet by using an open-short method

(in English) We propose an impedance measurement method for wide and flat metal sheet. Usually it is difficult to measure accurately the impedance of wide and flat metal sheet because it cannot be eliminated the unnecessary impedance of the long probe which is essential to connect an impedance meter and the metal sheet. For measurement, a thin copper wire is placed at several millimeters high on the metal sheet so that the wire and sheet form a transmission line. Then two input impedances are measured for the transmission line in each case of that the far end termination of the transmission line is open or short. From the measured impedances, four parameters, R, L, G, and C of the transmission line are calculated and an impedance of the metal sheet, which consists of resistance and inductance, is obtained with appropriate correction for skin effect.
