A 2.4-GHz CMOS low-power single-chip on-off keying (OOK) transceiver is designed for wireless sensor network applications. The transmitter performs OOK modulation through direct switching of an oscillator. It supports up to 10Mbps and provides the maximum output power of -1.5 dBm with 2.5 mW power consumption for 50% on-off ratio. The receiver is based on the uncertain-IF (50 - 250 MHz) heterodyne structure. It supports up to 1Mbps with -65 dBm sensitivity and consumes 0.88 mW. The transceiver operates between 2.1 and 2.6 GHz to support the full ISM band. The transceiver is designed in 0.13 um CMOS and the supply voltage is 1 V.
