Required difference level between communication and identification light for optical fiber identification
Kenichi Nakazawa, Yoshitaka Enomoto, Shigeki Sako (NTT) OFT2012-16
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Field engineers have prevented incorrect cutting of optical fibers by receiving the identification light sent from a central office on site by using the optical fiber identifier. However, when a video distribution service is provided, a video signal hides the identification light and disturbs a correct judgment for the identification because it has higher level than that of the identification light. Therefore, we simulated the difference between communication and identification light power received by the optical fiber identifier, and clarified the discrimination capability (isolation) required for the optical identifier.
