[Invited Talk] Non-contact High-Speed Data Links for Memory Interfaces

(in English) High-speed multi-drop bus has been developed for large volume main memory system. Non-contact directional coupler which uses electro-magnetic near field coupling has been adopted for interface between memory modules and multi-drop bus. Characteristic impedance of the directional coupler has been designed so as to keep the impedance matching at each drop points, which reduces a signal reflection and avoids the degradation of signal integrity. Equal signal power distribution technique has been proposed by controlling the coupling coefficient of each directional coupler. The signal-to-noise ratio in all modules was able to be kept at same level. Prototype system with five module multi-drop bus developed in this work achieved 7 Gbps/link.
