We have developed a high-temperature superconducting receiving filter with narrow bandwidth and frequency tunability for X-band weather radar systems to reduce interference between adjacent radar channels. To realize a filter with narrow bandwidth and low insertion loss is necessary to obtain high unloaded Q (Qu) resonator. Coupled microstrip line resonators with 1.5 times wavelength and odd mode resonance frequency were adopted to suppress the radiation loss and achieve a high Qu value. The developed HTS filter has 8-pole quasi-elliptic function response for sharp skirt characteristic and frequency tunability in weather radar frequency band by using dielectric rod. The measured frequency response of the filter shows center frequency tunability of 9700 MHz-9800 MHz, pass bandwidth of 8 MHz, insertion loss of 2.0dB. |
