Place cells in the hippocapmus are thought to be involved in the cognitive map. Grid cells in the rat enthorhinal cortex, however, have drawn much attention these days. They show the six-fold tesselating firing field in two dimentional space. First, we construct a model of grid cells representing them as a combination of integrate and fire units. Next, we propose mathematical formulation by modular arithmetics. Further, We apply the Gauss Method to compute homing vectors, and we conclude the Gauss method is a biological plausible algorithm for grid cell computaion. |
