The analysis of non-linear information processing in hippocampal dendrites

(in English) Recently, studies of the inputs integration along dendrites have been reported. In dendrites of hippocampal dentate granule cell (GC), the integration for multi inputs was also investigated using glutamate uncaging stimuli. The result showed the difference of amplitude summation for the direction of multi-inputs along a dendrite, depending on the NMDA channel.
In this study, we found non-linearities in the superposed amplitude for stimuli at two daughter blanches of GC dendrites by applying UV stimuli. When two sites with the same distance from blanch point were simultaneously stimulated, the facilitation was observed at the soma. The non-linearities were not abolished by the application of AP5 but abolished in the presence of Ni these. Therefore, the non-linearity on the blanches does not depend on NMDARs but depend on VDCC. The result suggests that that there was nonlinearity on the dendrite in the hippocampal GC, which may play a crucial rule for integration of input information.
