One of the major application in sensor networks is the moving target tracking. We have proposed the tracking algorithm by the predetermined number of sensor nodes on the condition that each node changes its status
among three ones, i.e., Active, Listen and Sleep, according to messages from other nodes, and evaluated both tracking and power-saving performance. However, the upper limit of these performances is not shown and the improvement of the algorithm may be required. Therefore, in this study, assuming that each node knows the distance to the target and can be modeled as RIS(Random Independent Sleeping) in which its state alternates Active and Sleep with a transient probability, we analytically derive the above performance measure and the transient probability that satisfies the required performance when the target is fixed in the field. Moreover, we investigate the impact of the mobility of the target on performance by simulation, compare the performance with that in the current algorithm, and thus discuss the sophisticated algorithm. |
