| (in English) | Traffic modeling plays an important role for performance evaluation of computer/communication network systems. As is well known, Internet traffic often exhibits long-range dependency (LRD). A batch-on-off arrival process is one of the traffic models that are able to reproduce the LRD property. The batch-on-off arrival process is a regenerative process with on and off states. Arrivals occur during on periods but do not during off periods. The off periods are independently and identically distributed with a geometric distribution, and are also independent of all the events associated with on periods. A remarkable feature of the batch-on-off arrival process considered here is that we can readily obtain an analytical expression and asymptotic formula for the loss probability in a single-server finite-buffer queueing model with this arrival process and deterministic service times. In this paper, we discuss a way of traffic identification with the batch on-off arrival process through some numerical experiments. |
