Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is important for management organizations that maintain tunnels to find out their aging, such as cracks in a wall, accurately and easily. To identify the decrepit point, firstly, they take pictures of the wall continuously driving in the tunnel. After discovering the intended point from pictures, they need to identify the shooting location of the pictures. However, a global positioning system (GPS), which is a common position detection system, does not work with a high degree of accuracy inside tunnels, and as of now, the effective means to identify shooting points has not been developed. The visible light communication (VLC) by which we communicate using light from light-emitting diode (LED) is attracting attention. With the VLC technology, we can receive information from a number of lights at the same time by using an LED light as a transmitter and an image sensor as a receiver, respectively. In this report, we first realize the detection of light sources from shot pictures by employing the time-of-flight (TOF) image sensor, which calculates the distance from a target by determining TOF of light, as a receiver of VLC. Then, utilizing that capability, we propose a detection system of the shooting location by the photogrammetry technique. Finally, by doing experiments and evaluations, we demonstrate the effectiveness as the mobile position detecting system inside tunnels.
