Channel Capacity Of Uplink Single-Carrier Cooperative AF Relay Using Direct/Cooperative Relay Switching In A Multi-Cell Envirionment

(in English) In the next generation mobile communication systems, high speed data services are demanded. However, unacceptable large transmit power may be required. A cooperative relay is known as one of the solutions for such a transmit power problem. The achievable channel capacity of the cooperative relay is upper limited to half of the direct communication since mobile terminal (MT) and relay station (RS) need to use orthogonal channels (i.e. 2-time slots) without interference each other. To avoid this capacity loss, we proposed a direct/cooperative relay switching and evaluated the channel capacity in a single-cell environment. However, the capacity in a multi-cell environment reusing the same frequency has not been evaluated. In this paper, the uplink channel capacity of the single-carrier (SC) cooperative amplify-and-forward (AF) relay using direct/cooperative relay switching in a multi-cell environment is evaluated.
