| (in English) | One of the crucial aims for video-conferencing systems is to achieve the environment similar to face-to-face communication. t-Room was developed to fulfill such aim and has characteristics where people can selectively expressive themselves nonverbally. In the present study, we investigated how the amount of nonverbal behavior (i.e., duration, frequency) and its distribution to each conversational partner would influence interpersonal impression. The results showed that the amount of gaze and its distribution did not but experimental condition of conversation did influence expressers’ impression, and those who conversed face-to-face were more positively rated than those in t-Room. Also, the difference in the distribution of nodding influenced impression; the smaller the difference was, the more positively rated expressers were. This effect was only found among face-to-face condition. The implication of the results was discussed in terms of the nonverbal behavior and the nature of given task. | |
