In this study, we propose a receive diversity technique called green white-space diversity.
Concretely, the diversity employs Electronically Steerable Passive Array Radiator (ESPAR) antenna to reduce both power consumption relevant to Radio Frequency (RF) front ends, i.e. green, and antenna size.
Besides, in the ESPAR antenna reactance connected to parasitic antenna is oscillated by sinusoidal waveforms with arbitrary frequencies.
The oscillation makes the received signal at parasitic antenna frequency-shift by the oscillation frequency.
If we set the oscillation frequency very large, we can use the frequency resources of white-spaces which is assigned to different systems to obtain maximum diversity gain. |
