| (in English) | To increase the accuracy of image object tracking, a discriminative tracking method was proposed that combined the particle filter and the minimum classification error training method. The method was evaluated in a task of tracking a hand image in a video scene. In that preceding study, a hand image was represented using its outline feature information, and the tracking was formalized as a two-class object detection task. However, we experimentally revealed that the method did not sufficiently work mainly due to the inadequacy of the outline-based hand image representation. Against this background, we propose in the present study an improved version of the method that replaces the outline-based feature representation with a small box-type image feature representation. We experimentally elaborate the performance of the improved method by controlling several key factors, such as the number of reference vectors per class. | |
