| (in English) | We attempt to develop an EEG-based brain-computer communication system (BCCS) for patients with severe motor disorders. In our former study, we examined the BCCS which was customized for “the choosing of one out of four to eight alternatives” using visual image stimuli and achieved about 90% of the success rate. In this research, we created picture images of the 78 communication items demanded by the ALS patients. Furthermore, we built the more practical system of a hierarchical type using the picture images of one classes 4 to 8. We experimented using three presentation methods and we examined which method is the most practical method. As results, it was found that the success rate was not affected by the presentation method. However, picture images method with character was evaluated the most practical method by questionnaire. | |
