Route guidances are one of walking assistance for visually impaired people. We are developing the route guidance automated creation system using digital map data. In route guidances, landmarks are important information to grasp one's position and keep the route. In order to search landmarks along the route from digital map data, we proposed a method of regarding the nearest line from the point as the road facing that point and verified the search accuracy. As a result the proposed method proved to be effective in about 60 percent of points along the route. Remaining 40 percent of points were in big buildings, near intersections, and near yard roads. We devised algorithms for searching these points correct. The second verification of search accuracy showed over 80 percent of points were correctly searched. |
