Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) At the Tohoku Earthquake on 11 March 2011, mobile operators applied originator regurations from 70% to 90% to their phone services, and could not provide sufficient qualities of services to their users. Considering the less traffic increase of packet communications observed, mobile carriers decided to make a common specification for voice mail exchanges. This quake also showed the large e-mail transfer latency. This paper aims to show the real mail transfer strategies adopted by mobile carriers. To analyze the mail strategies, maillogs are collected, letting tens of mobile phone users in a cell send e-mails within 5 minutes to a target mail server, which uses greylisting to reject any email from a sender for a while. Large periods of salvo retransmission strategies are observed, which will lead to a pulsation effect to e-mail traffic for a long time and make difficult an earlier recovery from the congestions. Thus from the point of lifeline service, the current e-mail services are vulnerable to satisfy the immediacy of mail transfers.
