(in English) Ultrasonic imaging which is used in clinical diagnosis is based on the pulse-echo technique and beam forming by array transducers. The spatial resolution is determined by a pulse width along range direction and a beam width along lateral direction. While a broad band pulsed ultrasound is propagating through the biological soft tissues, higher frequency components are much attenuated than the lower frequency components. This fact, which is the narrower bandwidth and lower shift of center frequency due to the further propagation, leads to image degradation of lower resolution and lower SNR. This study discusses the effects of frequency dependent attenuation of biological tissues to the broadband ultrasonic imaging and proposes the compensation method.
