[Invited Talk] How to Improve the Performance of Ad-hoc Networks

(in English) Throughput of ad-hoc networks is quite low compared to wired networks. The reasons are, for example, the fact that radio can not detect collisions, the large overhead of RTS/CTS sequence, and the overhead of PLCP (Physical Layer Convergence Protocol).In this paper, as for the improvement of the throughput of ad-hoc networks, the introduction of SBT (Strong Busy Tone), and the adjustment of the slot time in back-off calculation are proposed.
The result shows that throughput increases 5 times when the back traffic exists.
