Although GPS has become a standard positioning system in outdoor area, it cannot be used in indoor area. Some systems for indoor positioning have been proposed, but they are not widely used from aspect of accuracy and load of setting up. This paper proposes positioning scheme for a pedestrian by an inertia sensor. The estimation methods by an acceleration senor and detection of cornering by a gyro sensor are evaluated and map matching is introduced to eliminate an accumulated estimated positioning error by taking walking characteristics into account. The validity of the proposed scheme was verified by walking experiment carried out in a passage of a building. |
