Carrier transport in PEDOT:PSS studied by THz and IR-UV spectroscopy

(in English) We are developing the nondestructive evaluation of carrier transport in conducting polymer. In this study, effect of the solvent such as ethylene glycol on the carrier transport in conducting polymer poly (3, 4 ethylenedioxythiophene):poly (3-stylene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) has been investigated by the combination of the terahertz (THz) time domain spectroscopy and broadband reflectance spectroscopy from infrared to ultraviolet region. THz conductivity increases with increasing the frequency, which indicates that the weakly localized carrier states in PEDOT:PSS can be improved and broadband reflectance of PEDOT:PSS indicates that the carrier density changes by the addition of the ethylene glycole. From the study of the X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, the EG addition improves the crystalline of PEDOT:PSS and induces the removal of the insulating PSS. These results indicate that the dc conductivity enhancement of the ethylene glycol is dominated by the improvement of the carrier mobility due to the change of the film structure.
