A study on the control of vocal-tract area function by using articulatory data

(in English) This paper presents a study on the synthesis of continuous speech based on a physical model of speech production.To control the area function of the vocal tract, movements of the articulatory organs are measured using an electromagnetic articulograph system.In addition, formant frequencies are obtained using speech data recorded simultaneously with articulatory data,and then, the sectional area is estimated by using a sensitivity function related to the vocal-tract area function.Finally, a mapping function is determined from the data related to articulatory positions and vocal-tract area function.Results of a preliminary experiment is also shown to reveal the accuracy of the proposed method.
