Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It has been proven clinically that removing a pseudomembrane or tongue fur by an ultrasonic tip is very effective to treat oral mucosal diseases as an oral candidiasis and black hairy tongue. The ultrasonic tip used in the treatment is based on an ultrasonic scaler tip for dental treatment processed into spoon-shaped. However, the reason why the shape of this tip was effective to treat oral mucosal diseases and the effect of shape-process on the vibration system were unknown. The output power of an ultrasonic therapy apparatus decreased because of the variation of vibration system. Hence the design of ultrasonic tip was carried out for increasing the efficiency of vibration excitation. In this report, it is clarified that the tip has an effective shape for the treatment. Moreover, an ultrasonic tip designed with more effective shape for treatment and its experimental results are reported.
