Indoor experiments of real-time downlink multiuser MIMO transmission for next generation wireless LANs

(in English) This paper presents indoor experimental results on an implemented real-time downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transceiver for next generation wireless LAN systems. In the transceiver, channel state information (CSI) is estimated at each station (STA) and fed back to an access point (AP) on a real-time basis. At the AP, transmit beamforming weight for downlink MU-MIMO transmission is calculated by using the estimated CSI. This paper proposes a fast computation scheme for computing zero forcing (ZF) weight in real time. In the proposed scheme, since the ZF weight can be calculated in the order of arrival of CSI feedback frames in a time-domain multiple access (TDMA) manner, the calculation delay time for the transmit weight can be reduced. Indoor experiments with the MU-MIMO transceiver demonstrate its feasibility. We describe experimental results obtained with the implemented downlink MU-MIMO transceiver in an actual indoor environment and show that downlink MU-MIMO transmission can achieve high throughput transmission in next generation wireless LAN systems.
