Reignition of Break Arcs Magnetically Blown-Out in a 450V DC Resistive Circuit

(in English) Silver electrical contacts are separated at constant speed and break arc are generated in a DC450V-10A resistive circuit. The transverse magnetic field of a permanent magnet is applied to the break arcs. Characteristics of reignition of break arcs are investigated. The change of arc duration from rapid rise of gap voltage to arc extinction by presence of reignition and change in number of generation of reignition when the magnetic flux density of transverse magnetic field is varied are investigated. As a result, the gap voltage decreases and increases after sudden increase of gap voltage before arc extinction when reignition is generated. The arc lengthening time tended to become long when the reignition was occurred. Reignition is generated easily when supply voltage is increased and the magnetic flux density of transverse magnetic field is increased.
