Short Pulse Line Codes for High Rate CAN

(in English) The controller area network (CAN) is widely used as a data link protocol to link electronic control units (ECUs) in a vehicle. Packets are delivered via CAN by the non-retrurn to zero (NRZ) line code. The ringing effect caused by multiple reflected waves in CAN should be mitigated in order to achieve a high data rate. Further, the permissible transmission delay of a CAN controller should not be exceeded. In this manuscript, short pulse line codes are proposed to achieve a high rate and low laytency CAN. The simulation results show that the proposed short pulse line codes achieve reliability required for the high rate CAN by using the time response signals of CAN obtained from an electronic circuit simulator. We discuss the design method of system parameters for short pulse line code systems.
